The Bryanston Country Club Charity Trust has just celebrated its 4th birthday and has a lot to be proud of. We are also looking forward to our 5th birthday, along with the club’s 75th Anniversary next year.
The Education Centre has continued to grow and has moved into the new building near the overflow carpark. The requirement for an area four times the size is because of the incredible work happening there. The centre will also have an area for staff to relax, study and read. We now have 12 computer workstations that are well used. Here are a few of the other highlights that have happened:
Lucky Maluleke who runs our education centre received a bursary to complete his PGCE in Education and received a distinction. He is an incredible asset to the Trust.
Troye Terblanche, our resident teacher has maintained 4 groups of 27 learners amongst staff and caddies (basic literacy, advance literacy, pre-amended senior certificate and amended senior certificate – matric equivalent). As part of the centre’s development Troye and Lucky are building an incredible wealth of resources for the future.
We are pleased with all our current Bursary students and the results they are achieving and the work ethic that they all seem to have. Dineo, Sylvia, John, Promise and Khulani are all achieving distinctions.
It is with great delight that we share the story of Mulameli with you. She is our candidate whose French lessons we pay for. She has just published her second book of poetry. She is a linguist for sure and is away in India collecting an international literacy award!
Besides the education the Trust has also paid for:
Wellness days where staff and caddies are given access to primary healthcare
Supporting caddies leagues
Junior Development girls from Olievenhoutsbosch
Thank you to our Trustees Rose Bishop, Nomsa Dhlamini, Mike Gregory, Paul Leishman and Seán Clarke as well as Vian Schoeman and Reshma Khusal-Seusunker who manage the finances, Tilani Edwards with marketing and other incredible supporters like Chris Fane-Hervey, Nomvula and Troye who are so supportive.
We certainly would not be able to do this without the support of our members who are so generous. A special thanks to Taryn Leishman for her contribution of a fridge, microwave and tv for the centre.
